This last year has seen many changes on the social media landscape. We saw Facebook finally launch its IPO and watched the stock tank, rise, tank and rise again. We saw Pinterest take off with women leading the way. Now that 2012 is over, what’s in store for 2013?
Social Media Examiner has released their Social Media Predictions for 2013. It’s a great read for anyone interested in being in front of the oncoming trends.
I personally resonate with #2, visual marketing. I’m a very visual person and love these new infographics that you see all over Facebook and blogs. Prediction #4, Facebook offering better tools for business, is something I’d really like to see happen. Being able to offer an email opt in from your page, that’s seamless would be a real benefit to small businesses.
You’ll see it’s predicted that content marketing is the newest trend. In fact, Social Media Examiner is holding a Content Success Summit in February. Not only will you see more visual content, you’ll see more curation and aggregation of content as sites start to help filter the noise on the internet about different topics and interests. Someone is going to do the sorting for you!
Google+ is going full speed ahead. I’ve been over at Google+, spending time in communities. I really like the way Google+ is headed. Of course, if you know me, you know I’m a Google Gal (with a t-shirt to prove it!)
Of course, #17: The Number of Podcasters Doubles, is my absolute favorite. I’ve been podcasting for years and love showing the small business community how podcasting can help grow your business. Right now I’m building an online radio station for my local Toastmaster District. You can find my regularly scheduled small business show at North San Diego Business.
